Councillors

There are no specific wards within each village with a representative Community Councillor. As such, all Community Councillors represent the entire area of Grovesend & Waungron.
However, when vacancies do occur outside of the normal election period and co-option to fill a seat is necessary the Community Council looks to ensure a fair balance of Members to represent all parts of both villages equally.

Should you have any concerns or queries, please feel free to contact any of the Community Councillors below. Letters of correspondence should though be sent direct to the Secretary.

Headteacher of Pengelli Primary School.

- Why did you decide to become a Community Councillor?
I believe that the school is a vital part of the Community and it is important that we are seen as active participants in the life of Grovesend. I see my role on the Community Council as representing children and parents at the school if they want someone to speak on their behalf.

Mrs Carey Knox
I live in Waungron and have been there for 30 years. I have two children who are now both grown up and living in various parts of the world!

- What do you do for a living?
I work full time (not hopefully for much longer!), and I am at present the Manager of Peter Alan estate Agents in Gorseinon, I have been involved in Estate Agency for over 30 years.

- Why did you decide to become a Community Councillor?
I have been sitting on the community council for many years and I am one of the longest serving members. I initially wanted to join in order to ‘make a difference’ within the community , we had many issues within the village when I joined, and I wanted to look out for and help the community in any way I could, and also be a part of improving facilities within the village, which I think over the last few years has happened, and will, I am sure continue to do so.

- What do you like to do in your spare time?
My hobby is commentating, I have been doing this in my spare time since age 16. I commentate on all sorts of events such as Royal Welsh, Pembroke County show and Horse of the Year Show, to name just a few. I also compere charity events, Fashion shows, Wedding Fayres, Talent competitions, etc. Most unusual event I was asked to commentate on was ferret racing!! I have also ridden camels whilst commentating, gone through a hoop of fire on a horse drawn carriage, and been winched up into a Chinook helicopter again with a radio mic fitted, trying not to swear as it was a little nerve racking!
